Snow Forecast - Best Overall

</aside>

Snow Forecast is a great app—if you're only going to have one weather app for snowboarding, this is the one to pick. In my experience, it’s pretty accurate on snowfall amounts, and the temperature and wind data are fairly reliable. Plus, it provides specific forecasts for the resorts you’re riding, making it my top overall choice.

Whistler Peak - Best for Whistler Blackcomb

</aside>

Whistler Peak is a fantastic resource for Whistler Blackcomb created by Brad Meraly. If you’re riding the resort, I think it’s the best weather forecasting option available. The app provides extensive live data and cam feeds, making it a better choice than Snow Forecast and a definite step up from Vail’s Epic Mix app. There’s also an iOS version available.

Windy - A Great #2

</aside>

Windy is a valuable tool to have on hand, especially for gaining extra insights into the forecast. Its 'compare forecasts' feature, wind speed data, and airgrams are particularly helpful for understanding broader weather patterns. While it’s not always spot-on for precipitation amounts, I find it great for cross-checking with other apps to get a more accurate forecast. Plus, the satellite data feeds and overlay options add helpful visual depth. It’s definitely worth keeping on your phone

Clear Dark Sky - Best for Cloud Cover

</aside>

Clear Dark Sky, created by Attilla Danko for amateur astronomers, is a straightforward tool that visualizes cloud cover hour by hour. If you need to know when the sky will be clear, this is the resource to check

Spot Wx - Most Advanced

Spot Wx offers highly detailed forecasts that can deliver exceptionally accurate information—but can take some time to learn how to interpret. This is a more complex option, so I’d recommend it only if you have a real interest in weather patterns or need very precise forecasts.
